Why is the working of mind important?

Recently I read a news about a pregnant elephant was feeded a pineapple filled with crackers. The pineapple later exploded in her mouth, her jaw broke and then she died.

The forest officials said that this was a deliberate attempt made to eliminate her. Every time a news article like this pops up, my heart swells up to realize how cruel human beings can get. And for what? For a little bit of money, for a little bit of pleasure?

Exploring the pages of history sometimes you might get shocked to your very core learning about the atrocities human beings can do to each other and their surroundings.

You cannot help but think why does this happen? Why are some people so selfless while some people are extremely selfish to the point of being parasitic towards other living creatures.

The answer to this can be found in law of karma. The law of karma begins with your own thoughts. Hence, wise men have said that we should be careful about what we think. It is always the little pebble in our own shoe that stops us from moving forward and not the giant mountains in our path. Once you consciously choose a selfish thought, you begin your cycle with this thought and sooner or later you will find that more selfish thoughts come to you automatically. The modern law of attraction can be summed up into this.

“Thoughts become your things”, this sentence in itself has a very deep meaning and is deeply associated with law of karma.

Watch your thoughts, they become words,

Watch your words, they become actions,

Watch your actions they become your habits,

Watch your habits they become your character and finally

Watch your character, they become your destiny.

– LAO TZU

So, the change begins when we choose to consciously choose our thought. One thought at a time, because every single thought is responsible for creation a cycle which will attract more thoughts like them.
